While most vendors at Rossmeyer’s are open on Sunday, we break down the Ultimate Lighting Center on Sunday morning. History has revealed that most of the Sunday crowd are window shoppers who are out looking for deals on t-shirts. After nearly two weeks of long hours and hard work, we’re ready to pack up and get some much needed rest by the final Sunday of the event.

As a result, today was our last day of Bike Week 2012 and it was another beauty. The amazing sunny weather continued and we met many new customers, as well as those who have been customers for years. We closed around 5:00 today when the crowd shifted from those looking to accessorize their rides to those streaming in for the Jackyl concert. When the music is so loud that you can’t carry on a conversation with a customer, it’s time to pack it in for the day. No complaints, just saying.

Several years ago we bought a 34″ radio controlled Road King and lit it with our multi-color Fireworks. It’s a perfect replication and built to scale. This little black Road King has been sitting in our trailer’s gooseneck for years and today Christine decided to pull it out and see if the battery would hold a charge. Sure enough, it did and the lights still worked as they did the day we installed them. We set this miniature Harley out by the front of the tent and turned on the lights. I think nearly everyone walking by stopped to look at it and take a picture and ask if we sold them. I can’t believe how much attention this little guy drew. If I had 500 of these I would have sold every one of them. Unfortunately, a quick Google search revealed that this is no longer available, so fast cash doesn’t seem to be in our future. Of course I also wish I had bought Apple stock years ago at $70/share.

I wasn’t able to shoot a photo of all of our customers’ bikes today, but I did manage to get a few. It was another great day for us and, although we’re all growing a bit weary, we’re so happy to be here for Bike Week. We have just two days to go, Friday and Saturday. Historically these are very busy days and I hope to be a bit more diligent in capturing some great photos and video during this final stretch. Stay tuned…

I’ve never seen “midget” wrestling until it came to the Coca-Cola Pavilion today across from our Ultimate Lighting Center. Apparently this type of wrestling is seen on SPIKE TV. I just had to go check it out. I was able to capture some video to share with you. I must admit, they put on quite a show.

I shot a few photos and a short video today around the Ultimate Lighting Center at Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona. We also had a visit from our good friends Sharon and her son John, who’s confined to a wheelchair. Christine gave John a Batman “tattoo” and made his day. We also found our new favorite restaurant in Flagler Beach, The Golden Lion. It’s right on A1A just a few blocks north of Rt. 100. Awesome fish tacos and fish & chips. Full bar and casual, friendly atmosphere.

Overall we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day. Amazing weather is in the forecast for the rest of the week. I believe it’s going to be a great Bike Week for everyone.

What do Michael Ballard, Angieland and Elvis have in common? They were all spotted today at Rossmeyer’s, at or near the Boogey Lights Ultimate Lighting Center. Michael Ballard and Angieland were autographing $25 Full Throttle t-shirts at the Full Throttle rig parked next to the Coca-Cola Pavilion. The stars of Full Throttle Saloon on TruTV will be appearing Saturday on stage with co-star Jesse James Dupree and Jackyl for a free concert in the Pavilion.

Our office manager, Tim, is a fan of the TV show so I paid the $25 for a Full Throttle shirt and got in line for my autographs. Both Michael Ballard and Angieland signed the shirt, offering “smoochies” to Tim. Even though I’ve never watched the show, I thought it was pretty cool how friendly and down to earth they both were. In the past I’ve watched the Tuttles sign autographs and I wasn’t impressed with how their fame seemed to have gone to their heads. Not the case with the Full Throttle stars.

After my Full Throttle adventure, another star came walking by the Ultimate Lighting Center. It was none other than Elvis! He was sporting a shirt with his Facebook name and a Facebook logo. Elvis is not only alive, he’s online too! Amazing what you see at Rossmeyer’s H-D.

Finally, I thought you might want to see some of the bikes that stopped in for lights today. We weren’t as busy as we were yesterday, but we were very happy with our results considering the loss of an hour with Daylight Savings Time and the rainy start to the day.

Bike Week has always been a great event for Boogey Lights. People love our product and we’ve always been blessed to stay much busier than any of our competition who have set up shop nearby. However, during the past few years with the downturn in the economy we’ve experienced slowing sales that have been more difficult to win. Fact is, people have been very careful about how they spend their hard-earned dollars.

This year it seems like things are really turning around for us and, I believe, for the economy as a whole. Today was the second day in a row that we were busy from the moment we opened until closing 11 hours later. While I don’t want to jinx us with an early forecast of setting any sales records, it does feel like Bike Week is back. It’s back to the time that customers are less concerned about finding the “best deal” and are again shopping for quality and overall value. They seem to know what they want and they’re finally ready to move forward with a purchase they may have been contemplating for a few years.

I’m thrilled so see this optimistic attitude returning and I think it may be a sign that our economy is getting back on track. We’re certainly hoping that the coming week brings many more upbeat customers to our Ultimate Lighting Center. The past few years have been a difficult ride for all of us and it’s nice to think that we may be on our way back to the optimism of the “good old days.”

Friday was a busy day at the Ultimate Lighting Center. Just after lunch the rain moved in, and moved in hard. It rained on and off all afternoon, putting a damper on the crowd. Thankfully, we remained busy all afternoon in spite of the wet weather. Although there’s a chance of more showers Saturday and Sunday morning, the forecast for the weekend and all next week is very promising. Weather-wise I believe this is going to be one of the nicest Bike Weeks in years.

We were quite busy today considering Bike Week doesn’t officially start until tomorrow. We lit a Honda Fury, two red CVO Street Glides each with a full set of red lights, an Ultra Classic that we loaded with Fireworks from front to rear, and a Road King with a full set of blue lights. We also took in a Victory Vision at the end of the day, which we’ll light in the morning. No video today, but here’s a few photos I shot as Jake and Dennis were working on these sweet rides:
