Bike Week 2009 is well underway at Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona. It appears as though many have decided to sit Bike Week out this year, as the streets aren’t nearly as busy as in previous years. In spite of the overall low turnout, the crowd is showing up at Destination Daytona. The only problem is that people aren’t spending as they have in past years. This is no surprise with the state of our economy.
The biggest problem today wasn’t the economy, it was the rain and strong winds. We started off the day with a bang and then things died down for a few hours driving rain blew through the area. The winds ripped the sides off our small pop-up tent where we display the bike, but they were repaired within an hour by the lady who sews on patches at the event. By mid-afternoon the crowd was back and we were busy again.
I shot a short video of Bruce Rossmeyer, owner of Destination Daytona, riding by the booth on his golf cart.
